Well - still no pics of just MY kids, but here are some group shots. These were NOT taken by me - I was lucky enough to be able to trade sessions this year! I did a family shoot for another photographer, and she took some group shots for us. It was wonderful. Esp since I hate group shots :) It was so nice to sit back and let someone else do that for me... And I thoroughly enjoyed her family session, so all worked out very well! I am leaving for the weekend for our annual Cape May getaway. We go with 3 other families - it is a yearly tradition going on 7 (or is it 8?) years now. This year I have the pleasure of photographing another photographers family while I am down there! I am looking forward to it! Before I go, I promised this mom a sneak peek. Well - we got rained out at our first session. (We didnt see that one coming) But I was glad to be able to see this little one twice! What a trooper she was for our session - lasting way longer than any subject her age usually does. And, again, my FAVORITE age for pictures :) I just had to share her with you all!

Well it is midnight. I am up late getting out galleries, and getting some editing done. And it is officially my sons fourth birthday. I just cannot believe it. FOUR. Where did the time go??? I dont have any recent pictures of him. Well - because I am busy taking pictures for all of you :) The last time I got a decent picture of either of my kids was when I did my daughters session for her birthday in January. How very sad :( He will have a birthday session some time this month. In the meantime I will share some silly pics from his birthday invites. He is having an 'Incredibles' birthday party. And insisted on wearing the mask. We were going for the elastagirl look ;)

The sky, the water and these amazing eyes! Another repeat client who is TWO! I havent seen this little one since his first birthday. I am so glad Mom and Dad decided to bring him back to me. He is a pleasure - and Mom and Dad aren't so bad either ;) I really had a great time at this session. My first session with my new lens. And I love the results...

But as soon as I took this sibling picture, I couldnt wait to get home and edit it. I love it - its real. Its simple. Its just beautiful. I am not gonna lie - I fear two year olds :) They are usually my hardest subjects. If any of you Moms of two year olds are out there reading this, you KNOW how much you can control them (yeah - not at all). But on the flip side, I get the best most natural shots from two year olds. They are who they are - they are not trying to impress you. They don't care to look at you. And the best part of all of that is you get beautiful natural pictures without any cheezy smiles. And this two year old was a stunner. Watch out when she gets older Dad!

Years of marriage... Yup - hubby and I just celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary. I just can't believe I am even old enough to have been married that long. So - of course we had to commemorate the occasion with a photo shoot! We went to Myrtle Beach for a long weekend (we actually met there 6 years before we got married). I know this amazing photographer there and asked her if she would do us the honor of shooting our anniversary pictures. Lucky for us, she was able to squeeze us in to her already crazy schedule. A sweeter woman I have never met - we had such a great time with her! Our session was fun, and Kimberly helped make it more relaxing. I HATE having my picture taken. I always have (just ask my parents). It is for that reason I really believe I was destined to become a photographer! (we all typically hate being in FRONT of the camera) Kimberly was very patient with me - and made me look great. At least that is what all my friends and family are saying... Not sure if I should take that as a compliment, or leave me to wonder what I actually look like on a daily basis. Hmmmmmm.....

A wonderful session, with two gorgeous boys. I just love brother pictures :) There is something about two boys just being themselves and giving each other funny looks, wrestling, and doing anything not to look at me! I had a blast at this session. A new location I found. Shhhh - don't tell anyone where it is! I am the only photog I have ever seen there. :)

It is better to give than to recieve... I firmly believe that. I get so much out of giving to others. I have met two very brave and inspiring women lately. Both lost children in the past and I was lucky enough to photograph their newborns this month. They have touched me with their stories and their bravery. I am not sure I am a strong enough woman to get through such a tragedy.

In their honor I would like to donate my time to make someones life a little brighter. If you know of anyone deserving of a free session, please e-mail me with their stories. It doesnt have to be a tragic story. Maybe someone is just going through a rough patch and could use a pick me up? I will choose the one that inspires me most and offer them a free session, as well as all of their photos as

Yup - all mine! Its been a while since I posted my two. They were being silly in the bath and I wanted to capture that before they are too old. New Session Albums!

I found this fabulous album company with beautiful silk and brocade covers for my albums. They are amazing! They are adorable (almost exactly the same size as a 5x7) and just scream 'kids portraits' to me. So soothing :) Much nicer than a dark black leather album, no? These will replace my current black slip in albums. I was finding that the current albums just did not have the quality that I want. If I can find another slip-in of good quality, I will offer those soon enough.

Ok - so I LOVE hats on babies and kids. And I LOVE things with texture in photos. My favorite hat place is having a sale! These hats are great. If you have a 6-9 mo session coming up I highly recommened one as a prop :)

Manhattan Sessions...

I will be venturing across the NJ border - finally! Over the last 2 years I have gotten quite a few requests to do sessions in Manhattan. And I have turned them all down. Don't get me wrong - I love the city! I have been to three broadway shows since November. (By the way - The Little Mermaid was SPECTACULAR!) Its just that with two kiddos at home I want to be here as much as possible abd the travel time just does not seem feesible to me right now.

However, I recently had a client looking for a session in Manhattan. And for some reason I am itching to do it. Could be the fact that I am ready to create some new, fun images with a city edge to them. Her request just came at the right time. And it doesnt hurt that she wants images of her son at my most FAVORITE age to photograph - between 6 and 9 months :)

4 weeks old and bright eyed...

And completely loveable :) I am in a b&w mood today - I guess because of the weather (and a horrible headache). But for those of you who dont know, b&w is my heart. If my clients never wanted color I wouldn't ever complain! There is a saying that goes: "Take a picture in color and you show the color of their clothes, take a picture in black and white and you show the color of their soul". I whole-heartedly agree with that. Which is why if you ask any of my friends they will tell you I have not one color picture of my kiddos up in my house right now.

I couldnt let the day go by without posting these for Mom and Dad to see. Hope you love your sneak peek!!!

So I think it's time for a new contest! This time, YOU send ME your pictures! Send me pics of your sweet 'valentines'. A pic of your child/children with their valentine outfit on, a pic showing anything to do with LOVE or heck just eating Valentines candy! Be creative, make it fun. And since you all get to be the photograthers this time, here are some fun facts for taking great pictures :)

- Never use your on-camera flash. It is too harsh, especially on those sweet baby faces.
- Keep your shutter speed high or you will get a lot of blurry pictures.
-Try getting on their level - don't be afraid to lay down on your belly to get a great pic!

Well - we went back to the beach on what we expected to be another warm day. Except it turned out to be really cold at the beach! So we had a very QUICK session again for her b-day pics. We will have to go back when it gets a bit warmer. Maybe at the end of next month? I am OK with not having pictures EXACTLY on her b-day. Why do we all obsess with that anyway? The way I look at it, unless it is the first year, the kids do not change a ton in two months. Why not wait on pictures until you have the weather you want? Gotta make it work! I will admit, it took me years before I let go. But looking back I laugh. I could have had all these amazing spring pictures of her instead! Anyway - I am babbling... Here are a few more pictures of my baby girl. I just love her to pieces.

First I want to appologize that my blog has been neglected. As some or most of you know I took all of December and most of January off. I needed to be able to handle the craziness of Christmas, and my daughters b-day is this month. Between the two and being a full time Mom I just didnt feel I could give my clients the attention they deserve during this time. But I should be back in full swing soon! Well, I took my daughter for a pre-birthday session. I didnt have her outfit this time around, but it was such a nice day I just couldnt keep myself from picking up my camera! I just love the cool feel of the beach in the winter. There is something so calming and beautiful about it. So here are some of her practice birthday pictures. And one of my son (who was less than cooperative that day - but cute none-the-less!).

I have never been able to accomplish exactly what I wanted - until this shoot... I just *love* the look of a perfectly new newborn. Just as folded as they were when Mommy carried them. I rarely post all my faves because I want to leave some surprises for the parents. But in this case I just couldnt resist sharing all the pictures with everyone!

Now - if anyone can convince my hubby to agree to give me a third child I will be forever in your debt! Free pictures for life ;) Anyone?

These are the children of one of my clients whos style is almost exactly like mine. She just wants pictures of her kids being themselves and living in the moment - exactly what I want to capture! I read the best quote on another photogs site once - "real moments are rarely ever starched or pressed" (Joyce Smith).

I know it is the real moments I want to remember. So does this Mom. She totally gets me and I love that!

Well, we had no luck on our first session - a bee sting for one, and a bit of a fall for the other - so we had to reschedule half of the shoot. It was all worth it - they are sweet as can be. And just look at the faces on these two - aren't they gorgeous??? Who wouldn't want the chance to photograph them twice?

I was tagged - twice. And I never did anything about it. Well - here I am trying to make up for that! Sorry Amy and Jessica! I was 'blog tagged' by these fellow photographers. Seems I now need to offer up 8 tidbits about myself that not everyone knows - so here goes!

1 - My favorite animal is the dolphin. Just love 'em - I cried the first time I got to 'pet' them when I was on spring break...

2 - Speaking of crying... I have a very tough exterior. Some may even say harsh at times. Well, I am not going to lie. I do tend to tell it like it is which makes me seem harsh. I see it as truth. I am just a very BAD liar. Can't pretend to be something I am not, and can't pretend to like you if I don't. BUT - I am such an emotional softie too. Most people don't see the emotional side of me....

3 - I think I just may be addicted to Diet Pepsi.

4 - I am a bar food kind of gal. No need for a fancy french restaurant for me! Give me some wings (and a martini - lol) and I am good to go!

5 - Sad but true: The woman at the Shop Rite Dunkin Donuts doesn't even ask me what I want anymore. She knows without asking (french vanilla iced coffee light and sweet - but with skim milk).

6 - I have a TERRIBLE memory. I need my friend Jackie with me at all parties to remind me of everyones names (she is GOOD like that!). If I don't write it down, I forget. Sometimes even if I write it down I forget! Good thing my friends love me, cause sometimes b-days go by without a phone call. Yikes!!!!

7 - I was in a sorority in college. Most people who know me now are shocked to learn this little tidbit. I still have one set of letters in my closet right now. If anyone is an AXO, e-mail me and I will give them to you!

8 - My hubby and I met on spring break in North Carolina. LOL... He was wearing a Rutgers jacket so I said HI. We chatted and I didnt see him again. A year after the fact we happen to meet again at a mixer. The rest is history!

I seriously have never seen bigger more beautiful eyes on a baby! And the parents of this little one were as sweet as can be - they made me feel so comfortable in their home! Two beautiful girls - one as sweet as can be, the other sassy and spunky! I think each of their personalities really shine through in their photos....

Open your mind to new things....

With winter coming, I want to remind my clients to be open-minded about your custom portraits. Not all sessions need to be done in a park. I LOVE to shoot outdoors - it is definitely where I feel most comfortable and free. I think it is also where children are the most happy. Why not put your children in some coats and hats and take some pictures outside? I would love to get snowball fight pictures, a picture of you building a snowman with your children and the pictures right after of your family drinking some hot chocolate by the fire or around the kitchen table.

Maybe your child is happiest in the bath - why not give them a bath when I get there? We can capture him blowing bubbles off his hand, with a pile of bubbles on his head or just splashing around.

Put on your baby girls raincoat and galoshes and we will take pictures of her splashing in the puddles after a it rains.

Let your daughter dress up in Mommy's jewelry in front of a mirror putting on your lipstick. Let her play tea party in her room with her stuffed animals. Make sure she is able to dress up in her favorite princess costume!

The possiblitlies are endless - that is the wonderful thing about custom portraiture. It allows you to capture the essence of who your child is. Sit and think of the things they do often - the things you always want to remember. Those are the things you want to most remember in the end...

As Moms, we know our kids are a part of who we are. They truly define us. My kids are so different from each other, but of course I love them equally. I always comment that my son is 'my heart' and my daughter is 'my soul'. Well - here is my heart on HIS first day of school. No tears shed this time. I know his school very well, and his teachers are like family to me. They are all just simply amazing. I could not trust anybody more with my babies. Plus he is only gone 2 1/2 hours a day for three days a week - lol. Just enough time to (hopefully) get to the gym a few times!!!!

When I went to leave on his first day I told him I had to take his sister to school. He said - I don't want to go with you I want to stay here! He thought he had to come drop her off as usual... Needless to say he is doing fine!

My baby started Kindergarten last week. It is heartbreaking for me to know that she will no longer be home with me every day. She is out in the world, no longer sheltered by Mommy and Daddy. It hurts my heart. My wish for her is that she is always happy and confident in the person that she is. If only I could keep her in my arms just a bit longer... I love you baby girl...

I am really enjoying my family sessions lately. And I especially love when they are as natural as possible. I asked this family to just relax, play and have fun - and they did just that! Which makes my job so much easier :) The sky was beautiful that night too which made for a great backdrop! I think this is one of my favorite family sessions to date - here is their beautiful family!!!!

I think too many times as a photographer I lose 'ME' to cater to what I think my clients want. Don't get me wrong - I want you to get what you want, but in a way that makes us both thrilled. I am not a fan of posed pictures, and if you know me you know that much. Of course the pictures are somewhat posed - I mean you can't just plop a 6 month old down and have him 'do stuff' - lol. But the whole 'everyone look here and smile at the camera' thing - it is just not ME. I wish I could explain to clients what I want them to WANT from their family session. So I asked MY family photographer if I could borrow some of her pics for my blog. When we spoke, I explained to her that I wanted very few posed shots. In my gallery there are a few of us all looking and smiling - of course you want a few of those. But for the most part, I asked her to just capture us doing our thing. I am not going to lie - it was weird being the subject for once (I HATE having my picture taken). But I tried to forget she was there and I did things with my kids that we normally do. My son always grabs me from behind and hugs or jumps on me, my hubby and son always 'punch' before bedtime. Things that I want to remember from this year - moments I will never get back. I am thrilled with my family pictures - they are US. They capture us as we are - and they are PRICELESS to me. These were all taken while I was on vacation with friends in Cape May. Lake George pictures!

Ok - this is merely to appease my Mom - Hi Mom!!!! I am busy trying to get three client galleries out before I leave for vacation. But I know my mother is dying to see some from our vacation. Lake George was a photographers dream! I just wish my hubby was there with me to help with the kids. I was so busy with everything I barely made enough time to take some pictures. There was a great frog pond near the front of the property. As soon as I saw the kids with their frog nets, it screamed overalls to me! So I went to the Osh Kosh outlet and bought all of the boys a pair. Here are some pics - one of each kid that was there! And check out my beautiful aspiring model cousins too!!! I will be sure to proof the rest of these as soon as I possibly can!

From my workshop this weekend. Not much time to talk, and barely any time to edit, but I pulled a few from my card and here they are. Some of the child models from the workshop. I will be back tomm to update with some recent sessions! Between vacations and workshops and my e-mail not working I have been CRAZY! Hoping to get back on track this week. Oh - but I leave again on Sunday for another 4 day vacation - lol... Try not to miss me too much!

Well - the Lake George pics will have to wait a while! And these are the only Cape May pics I have edited (I have a client gallery I need to do before going any further with these!!!). So here they are - the motley crew. We went with three other families - our best friends really. They are truly family to us.
